Iraq inquiry
Prime Minister Gordon Brown delivered a statement to the House of Commons announcing an independent inquiry into the conflict in Iraq. Foreign Secretary David Miliband also made clear that the Iraq Inquiry will be 'comprehensive and independent'.

was appointed as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Iraq in September 2007.
Christopher joined the British Diplomatic Service in 1977 after graduating from Oxford with a first class Honours degree in Classics.
British Embassy in Baghdad is the focal point of the British presence in Iraq. Its objectives are to develop close ties with the Iraqi Government and assist the Government and the Iraqi people with the process of reconstruction after the Saddam era.

The bodies of Jason Swindlehurst and Jason Creswell, the British hostages murdered in Iraq, were repatriated earlier today. The families have asked for privacy and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
